About The Firm
Our History
Gross McGinley is one of the largest and most comprehensive law firms in the Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania area.
Gross McGinley was founded in 1976 by local lawyers Malcolm Gross, Paul McGinley, and Carol McGinley, now a Lehigh County judge. Originally located in a restored Victorian building on 5th Street in Allentown, the firm moved to its present location in Crown Tower, at 33 South 7th Street, just south of the Lehigh County government building in Allentown ten years later. We occupy two floors in a beautifully restored 25,000-square foot former clothing mill.
The founding partners have deep roots in the Valley. Gross is the son of the late Allentown mayor John T. Gross and grandson of Malcolm W. Gross, a four-term Allentown mayor and prominent member of the Lehigh County Bar Association. McGinley is the son of the late Paul McGinley, a district attorney and prominent trial attorney.
Photos and documents from the personal collections of these partners are exhibited in our lobby, accurately reflecting the history of Allentown over the past century.
Don LaBarre and Jackson Eaton, who joined the firm in 1981 and 1986 respectively, are also descendents of local, prominent men in the public sector. LaBarre is the son of former county solicitor Donald LaBarre, and Eaton is the grandson of Sheriff Ollie Peter.
Gross McGinley, expanded into Northampton County to better serve our many clients there on Jan. 1, 2006, when we opened an office at 717 Washington Street in Easton. The building, less than a block from the Courthouse, was purchased at the same time Attorney Raymond DeRaymond joined the firm.
Gross McGinley, has grown steadily over the years. We currently have 16 partners, five associates, and two counsel. We are proud that each of our staff members is active in his or her community, in diverse ways helping to nurture and sustain those communities comprising the Lehigh Valley.
